The AP 6.5 Ω2 woofer was developed with a nominal impedance of 2Ω to utilize all available current from the AP8.9 bit amplifier, which can deliver 65W to a 2Ω load. To maximize the woofer's efficiency to 95 dB, a voice coil with a diameter of 25 mm and a winding height of 10 mm was used - a lighter coil, which at the same time offers a linear excursion that is 2.8 mm higher than that of the AP 6.5 (4Ω), guaranteeing high SPL values with minimal distortion, even at high listening volumes. To extend the woofer's frequency range to low frequencies down to 50 Hz, a resonant frequency of 75 Hz was chosen, achieving excellent low-frequency reproduction even without the use of a subwoofer.
