Tesla Brake Fluid Replacement
Many Tesla drivers think that the brakes are hardly used due to regenerative braking, and that maintenance is therefore not necessary. Unfortunately, that is not correct. Especially with electric cars, the condition of the brake fluid is extra important.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it attracts moisture from the air.
So over time, water gets into the brake system.
Water in the brake fluid causes:
internal corrosion of the ABS module
seized brake calipers
a lower boiling point
poorer braking performance
spongy brake pedal
failure in the brake system
And during a major braking action, the fluid can boil, causing the brakes to fail completely
We regularly see Teslas of 3-4 years old where the brake fluid is already out of specification — without the driver noticing anything.
During this procedure, Tesland replaces the brake fluid with a new fluid of the correct DOT specification for Tesla and completely according to the correct procedures:
We only use fluid of the correct DOT specification for Tesla.
When to replace?
Replace every 4 years
Don't wait too long — damage to an ABS unit or brake components can cost thousands of euros and is not covered by warranty.
