TeslaCam - Dashcam stick Ultra Flair 128GB / 256GB
Description
A USB stick to use the dashcam function of your Tesla for the TeslaCam.
Available with 128GB or 256GB memory. We currently ship USB drives from the brand Sandisk, because these are the most suitable.
This USB stick has more than enough space and is formatted and set up for use. Completely "plug and play".
If your car was built after August 2017 and has autopilot hardware 2.0 or newer, you can use the forward-facing camera and both rearward-facing cameras of your turn signals as a dashcam. The camera will automatically start working as soon as you plug in this stick.
You can also use sentry mode. The cameras will then record when someone approaches your car or does something with it.
Of course, many other USB sticks also work, but not all of them. These have been extensively tested by us, formatted in the correct way and are therefore completely ready for use.
Disclaimer: It is possible that Tesla will increase the requirements for these types of sticks in the future, which may cause the stick to no longer work after a future firmware update of the car. We have no insight into this at the moment.
Formatting the USB device in the car
For some time now, Tesla has also offered the option of formatting a USB device directly in the car. Simply connect the pen drive/SSD/MicroSD, etc. to one of the USB ports on the front. Then select in the car settings under "Security" > "Format USB device". PLEASE NOTE: All data on the USB device will be deleted by formatting! The device is then formatted as an exFAT file system and the TeslaCam folder is automatically created.
Important: The format button is always grayed out if your Tesla sees more than 1 partition. So if there are perhaps 2 sticks connected, or 1 stick with 2 partitions.
